weekly design prompt?
Hey guys I was wondering what you thought about having a weekly design prompt. Each week someone posts a topic and then during that week people post their sketches/ideas for that topic. This way we can look at each other's stuff, give crits, etc.

cool gadget. . . but can it be real?
Recently I've come up on scads of time to see movies one of them including "The Illusionist". Besides the love story and magic acts . .. what intrigued me the most was the locket. The illusionist crafts this locket that twists and turns and opens to reveal his photo- a secret!!! {see clip}
The mechanical philosopher has a set of cad renderings showing how it could be made, (which are much more clear than the engineery youtube animation) but it seems extremely intricate. inspiring anyhow.

CCA at ICFF!
Hey folks, I'm Tony Meredith...I'll be a senior in the ID program at CCA next year. In March of this year, I was asked to take part in the design, organization, fabrication, shipping, assembling, manning, and de-installation of CCA's booth at the International Contemporary Furniture Fair in New York. At first, Seth Murray was asked to be the co-worker on the booth...But it soon became clear that with him finishing up his thesis project and because of some other scheduling issues, he wouldn't be able to help out...rats! After a while, the school rustled up some help in the form of Gabe Lam, another senior-to-be. With that decision, we got to work...
The items shown in the booth were the pet products designed by CCA students in 2006 for Gaia & Gino...a Turkish household goods manufacturer. The pieces shown were: Chew by Jenny Olson, Wild Bowls by Brandon Warren, Twins Bowls by Richie Tanaka, and a prototype Bone Container by Matthew Gale. The furniture for the booth stemmed from a design that I did for a DWR sponsored furniture class in Fall 2006...the SlashBackslash Chair...we also produced a table to match the chairs...FIERCE!
I'd hate to bore everyone with in-depth details about the long process of the design and construction of the booth (you can look at my website http://www.tonymeredith.com for that...I'm working on that page right now...stay tuned!), I'd rather just share the pixes and call it a day! Enjoy!
